Elara's pov

The next day I barely saw the king but that was until the summons came without warning.

"All servants to the throne room. Immediately."

The guard's voice echoed through the corridors, loud and commanding. Around me, humans exchanged nervous glances. Sudden assemblies never meant anything good.

I found Von near the kitchens, his face already pale with worry.

"What do you think this is about?" he asked as we joined the stream of bodies moving toward the throne room.
