The Mate's Confession

The night was still, wrapped in silver light from the half-moon that hung above the temple ruins. The air smelled faintly of damp stone and wildflowers, a strange calm after everything that had happened. Selene sat by the edge of the cracked marble floor, her bare feet touching the cool surface as she stared at the shimmering sky.
