In my mother’s driveway, barely out of my driver’s seat, I smile, shaking my head. Mom’s a force-a brilliant, shiny, active force. Her security camera catches my motion, and in less than a minute, she’s walking down her sidewalk to greet me.

“Well, isn’t this a nice surprise?” her cheery voice greets as she opens her arms to pull me in for a hug.
