Before I know it, it’s Monday evening. I motion for Mom to join Dad and me at the table, hoping to move this meal along. My butt in my chair, I scoot closer to the table, smiling over to Dad.

“How’s John?” she pries.

“Anne,” Dad’s tone warns.

“What?” She brushes off his warning, continuing with her motherly duty. “New friends and watching movies again… I’m liking the new changes and trying to be supportive.”
