CHAPTER 3 — Cursed? Or Not?
I used to think something was wrong with me. While my peers were fawning over boys in highschool, I thought they were crazy.
When Father persuaded me into a relationship with Luca, ‘the man of every girl's dream’, I tried my best to fall for him. I just couldn't. He tried to touch me a couple of times, but I couldn't keep up with it because I wasn't attracted to him.
I never believed I could feel all of these things, up until tonight.
“How…” The Alpha mumbled, taking yet another step back. “How are you a virgin?”
Words failed me. “I…”
Like a roaring flame quenched with water, the desire in his eyes was dying. I couldn't tell why, but the only emotion I could decipher in his eyes was regret.
Who would have thought this priceless virtue of mine would cause the most beautiful night of my life to come to an abrupt end?
“Alpha, I…”
The words dried up on my tongue as a loud knock sounded on the door.
“Alpha, are you in there?” A voice came from the other side. “We have to leave now.”
My heart was pounding furiously in my chest, demanding to be let out. I recognized that voice too. It belonged to the Gamma, another one of my Father's friend.
I think my luck is cursed. It didn't even wait for the night to be over before slapping my wrong decisions in my face.
It was clear the Alpha wouldn't touch me anymore, like he was repulsed. But there was someone outside that door and I couldn't leave either.
“You.. ” He began, his voice stern. “Stay here, and leave tomorrow morning.”
His eyes ran over me, and that was all I needed to remind me that I was naked. I suddenly felt ashamed.
“Lock the doors.” He added.
Without another word, he threw on his shirt and walked out of the room. I heard muffled voices and the sound of retreating footsteps.
With him gone, the silence in the room felt heavy and the lump in my throat was making it almost impossible to breathe. Everything was going perfectly. How did tonight spiral out of control?
I managed to put my clothes back on, and locked the doors as instructed. The bed was huge, and as I sank into it, I couldn't help but feel lonely. My mind drifted off to Luca and Elena.
What would they think if they found out about my failed attempt to take revenge on them?
I really shouldn't have done this.
As the night progressed, the alcohol got to me, and I dozed off… all alone on a Queen sized bed… in the Alpha's suite.
*.*.*.
The sun rose long before I did. Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe I was just tired.
The clock read 9am, making me jump out of the bed. “Fuck! I'll be late for work.”
I didn't bother to look in the mirror before I stormed out of the suite. Luckily, everyone was too busy with their businesses to notice me. I called an Uber, and waited impatiently for it to arrive.
The ride home was filled with me wishing Father wouldn't be home. Turns out my luck wasn't cursed after all. He wasn't home, and I couldn't be more grateful for that.
With insane speed, I changed out of my disguise that was terribly ruined, took a bath, got dressed and ran to work.
I worked at the most famous restaurant in the pack, and it was a ten minute walk from my house. However, it was a little past ten, and I was so fucking late.
I know I said my luck wasn't cursed, I spoke too soon. Right when I slowed down to catch my breath from all the running, my eyes fell on the last person I wanted to see.
Luca!
I didn't think twice before dashing off, hoping he wouldn't see me. My heart was threatening to rip out of my ribcage, but I dared not stop. Either this, or I face the cheating lying son of a bitch.
Finally, I got to work, and only then did I stop. I could feel sweat trickling from my back, and fuck! I was tired.
The minute I stepped through the back doors meant for employees, I came face to face with the second last person I wanted to see.
“Hey Raven! You're late.”
Elena!
How could she smile so effortlessly at me when she spent the weekend fucking the man that's supposed to belong to me?
I ignored her, walking right past her like she didn't exist. However, I didn't get very far when another voice stopped me.
“Raven Covey! How dare you show up late to work on a Monday morning?” This one belonged to my boss.
“Good morning sir… I…”
“Save it. There's an order from this address.” He tossed me a piece of paper. “Hurry over there.”
Relief flooded my chest. “Yes sir.”
I glanced once at the paper, and I instantly froze. Staring back at me was the Alpha's address.
Oh great!
