"Where the hell is she?" I muttered the moment I stepped into the hallway, right outside my office.

The desk was empty, again. This is the second damn day in a row.

Hayden trailed behind me, reading something off his phone, but I was already seeing red. No coffee, no color-coded schedule, no properly aligned files waiting on my desk, no Damaris.

I stormed past the vacant receptionist station and shoved my office door open, the space felt wrong... Lifeless.
