"Are you ready now, you are killing my time young lady, I have to meet up with the Alpha and Luna." Andrew called for the third time.I snickered and quickly rushed down to meet him at the door. He was wearing a black tuxedo with a red rose clipped to his side pocket. He is to be my chaperone, so he needed to match my attire.

"Now, aren't you such a handsome gentleman? What a shame you don't want to find your mate to appreciate all this handsomeness." I said with a sly smile.

" Shut the fuck up and get into the car." He said with a funny frown. I laughed and got into the passenger side.

"You're looking beautiful little girl." He said with his own sly smile.

" I will pretend I didn't hear that." I said as we drove out of the pack. There were other cars too before us and behind us. I knew Amy and Jacob must be behind us.

The fact that the ball will be held in the palace, made most of the young eligibles join because they had this dream that they could be the mate of the King, who in turn is one of the eligibles. I really didn't entertain the idea but I don't think it's a bad one.

The ball is said to be a blindfolded ball, where all the eligibles are escorted down to the hall by their chaperones all blindfolded. They dance with the first eligible they make hand contact with. They were not allowed to spin or twirl much, so as not to bump into each other. If they feel a spark between them by skin contact , they are allowed to remove their blindfolds and look at each other. At the end of the ball, that's getting to have a little conversation between the two, they announce their acceptance as mates or their rejection.

I pray honestly that my mate doesn't reject me, I might crumble at the spot. Andrew drove into a huge compound that looks like those straight out of the royal British mansions in movies.

"Wow. I definitely would love to live here the rest of my life." I said aloud as I stared out the window.

"Please dear little sister. Don't embarrass me . Get a grip of yourself." He parked and left the car. He appeared at the car's door and opened it. Offering me his hand, I smiled at him and took it.

"If you so much love to live here, pray that you are a mate to the King." He said in a hush voice.

I pinched him. " Don't be an asshole." I said in a hush voice too.

He smiled and offered me a red silk ribbon. I quickly turned my back to let him blindfold me. My heart was beating uncontrollably.

"Breathe Emma. Breathe." Andrew whispered beside me.

Soon, Andrew whispered beside me that we were inside. I could hear classical music from musical instruments. It was really like a ball though I couldn't see with my eyes but my eyes told me a lot.

"They announce us by our pack name, so get ready when you hear it. ". Andrew said to me.

I nodded and kept my ears open. The sound of the lovely music kept drawing my attention but I still stayed alert until I heard it.

"Introducing the Greyhound bachelors and bachelorettes."

I took a deep breath and released it. It was time. Andrew guided me down a stair as the melody from the instruments filled the room.

Alpha King's POV

"You shouldn't have joined the mating ball. We're already mates. We chose each other my love." She said as her perfect manicured hands caress my jawline.

I took it and placed sweet small kisses on them. She smelled heavenly and her eyes held a ton of dirty mischief.

"Sienna my love, I only see you, so you don't have to be afraid. I know my mom is difficult on you. That's why she insisted I join the mate ball. She believes someone out there is meant to be mine but that's where she's mistaken. I have already found you and I will make you mine." I said with all the honesty I have in me.

She smiled at me and I felt the world stop. Ever since I started spending time with her after my father's death and I was crowned King. They didn't even give me a choice, Sienna has been there to fend for me. She understood my mood and everything. I knew that someone doesn't need a moon goddess choice to feel what it means to be loved or in love.

He was going to attend the ball and he prayed not to find whoever is his destined mate there. If he does, he would reject her at the spot. He wasn't going to let anyone make him lose his already chosen mate.

Sienna didn't follow in the mating ball. She said she doesn't have a mate because she already found him. I felt so proud of myself. She was loyal and faithful. I wish I could not attend to prove to her also but the title I hold insists I should since everyone knows I'm mateless except I find a mate at the ball or introduce someone.

I watched as Sienna fell asleep beside me. Tomorrow was the ball and all my attire had been delivered to my room by the maids. I couldn't sleep so I gave Sienna a peck and left the room. I needed fresh air, so I went straight to the garden. The guards who followed me stopped ten meters away to give me my space.

Immediately, someone sat down beside me.

"Can't I have time for myself alone in this house." I said.

" Well you can if you stop making crazy decisions." He said.

I stared at my beta. He stared ahead with determination. I knew he didn't support my plan to crown Sienna but he couldn't do anything about it other than complain. He was mated last year to one of the mates from another pack. His mate, Mariah is a lovely soul but I knew I might not be as lucky as him to get such a perfect Mate.

"My dear friend, Noah, not everyone is as lucky as you are. You might have found a perfect mate which Mariah is, doesn't mean mine would be the same. So instead of taking the risk I chose my mate myself." I tried to explain to him.

" You're so damn stubborn George. Sienna isn't anyone right. You know it and yet you want to act like you don't care. Just because you are high on stupid testosterone." He said to me bluntly. He was my cousin and we basically grew up together. So he could talk to me anyhow when we're alone.

"I know you're mad at me Noah. I don't blame you. I would have done the same if it had been you misbehaving like this." I laughed at him

He nudged me and we both started laughing. We later sat there silently as we were lost in thought.

The next morning, maids trooped in to wake me up and prepare my bath. Noah came in with my clothes and I got dressed in my royal attire

"I hope you find a mate and you don't do anything stupid please." He said to me as we walked to the ball room. We met Sienna on the way. She looked so elegant in an emerald green long gown that was decorated with stones. All I could think was how I could escape with her and spend the whole time in her arms rather than in a pathetic ball. She quickly bowed and went into the room. She would be seated at the council corner since her parents are one of the council members.

My presence was announced and everyone rose up to greet me. I nodded and the event resumed. A lot of blindfolded women stood with their chaperones. The air was filled with different fragrance anyone could ever think of. I stared at all the women in the middle of the room. One of them may or may not be my mate. I just hope she's not here.

My mother paid me no attention when I walked in. Her focus was just on the ladies in the middle of the room. She had become distant after I insisted on choosing Sienna as my mate. As much as I don't want to hurt her feelings as my mother, I couldn't let her make decisions in my life either.
