Chapter 3: Emma's POV

The first contact I made, I didn't feel anything, it was just like holding my brother's hand. We danced a little, he smelled lovely and seemed graceful."You have an amazing smile Miss." He said to me.

" Oh thank you. I can't comment anything about your appearance either because I'm blindfolded but you smell really good." I said to him, As the music flowed and I danced with the first eligible, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. His voice was soothing, and his movements were graceful.

After a short dance, we released each other, and I waited to see if I would feel that elusive spark. But unfortunately, it never came. I realized that this was not my destined mate, and I sighed inwardly. It was disheartening, but I knew that not everyone found their mate at the ball. With a polite smile, I thanked him for the dance and resumed my place among the other eligibles, hoping that the next dance would be with my destined mate.

As the evening progressed, I danced with a few more individuals, but none of them gave the spark that I had heard so much about. My heart began to sink, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment.

Then, the unexpected happened. I was approached by a strong presence, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Our hands touched, and an electric current seemed to pass between us. The world around me faded as I felt an inexplicable connection with the person before me. I felt as if I had known him for a lifetime, and a warm feeling spread through my chest. This was it. This was the spark everyone talked about.

Without hesitation, I removed my blindfold, my heart pounding in my chest. And there he was, the most handsome man I have ever laid my eyes on before. It was the Alpha King George, a crown of dark hair and a regal aura surrounding him. His intense gaze locked onto mine, and I found myself captivated by the color of his eyes.

"Your highness." I quickly bowed when I recovered my senses. I didn't know what to say next. The moon goddess has rendered me speechless and honestly didn't expect myself being mated to the King.

He only stared at me. I didn't even know exactly what was going through his mind. Maybe he didn't like what he got. I felt so embarrassed of myself. All I wanted to do was to leave the hall before he rejects me there.

He took my hands and we resumed dancing. He didn't say a word neither did I

"What's your name?" He asked after some time of dancing around the hall. Everyone had cleared the dance floor. It was just the both of us still dancing. Everyone was watching .

"My name is Emma Henderson." I answered.

He nodded. " Have you ever fallen in love before?"

I raised a brow. Why was he asking? " No I haven't.",

He nodded again. "You must be a strong believer in the Moon goddess stuff."

I frowned. " You're the king, don't you believe?"

He stopped. "No dearest. I don't." He gave me a tight smile.

Fear gripped my heart and for a moment, time seemed to stand still as we stared at each other, our connection undeniable. But then, he looked away, his expression changing.

A mixture of confusion and frustration crossed his face before his face hardened. Without a word, he let go of my hand and turned on his heel, storming away from the dance floor.I stood there, stunned, my heart sinking as the reality of the situation hit me. He had rejected me as his mate.

The man who had sparked such intense feelings within me had walked away, leaving me behind. It was as if the world had come crashing down around me, and I struggled to breathe. I felt choked and there was no air in the room.

I watched him disappear into the crowd before I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder. It was Andrew, my brother, who had been watching the events unfold. His sympathetic eyes met mine, and I could see the concern in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry, Emma," he said softly, pulling me into a comforting embrace.

"I will deal with him later. He hurt your feelings and won't let it slide."

Tears welled up in my eyes, and I nodded and didn't say anything. As the music continued to play and the ball carried on around me, I took a deep breath, determined to face my rejection with all my heart. I wasn't going to let him see me as a broken toy.

I will find someone else to choose as mate. I whispered into Andrew's ear to let him know I wanted to go home and sleep. That was all I could think of, it felt like an escape to everything that just happened.
