The drive back after Asa's meeting with Marco was quiet.

Asa had one hand on the wheel, the other resting on the console close to mine. He wasn’t speaking, but I could tell his mind was elsewhere— probably somewhere deep in the shadows of whatever “business” Marco had pulled him into.

When the city lights began to blur into familiar shapes, I knew we were close to my neighborhood. And for some reasons, I didn’t want the car to stop. Not yet.
