When I woke up, the spot beside me was empty. The fire had died down to glowing embers and the cabin was quiet.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up wondering where Dario was. I pulled on his shirt and checked the bedroom but he wasn’t there.

I checked the bathroom and I still couldn’t find him.

My stomach twisted. I checked everywhere until I found him outside through the window.
