I was lost in thoughts, stuck on a page for over an hour when the phone buzzed.

The phone ringing showed Sophia’s name, that was almost a relief.

“Hey,” I said.

“Emily.” Her voice was tight in the way it got when she was trying to hold something together. “I need to tell you something and I need you to not hang up.”
