Third POV

Lucien stood by the window, the evening sun washing gold across the room. The air felt heavy again, carrying that strange scent that didn’t sit right with him. Sweet, but not the kind of sweet he remembered.

Outside, the Nightshade gates had closed hours ago, yet his thoughts hadn’t stopped circling the woman now sleeping under his roof.

They said she carried his child.

They said she came here alone.

They said she remembered the night.
