“Looks like your man didn’t do his job,” I taunted, trying to get a rise out of Roald.

Kaeva and I had worked on most of this plan together. But some parts of it I had put into motion with Roald. But Roald had hired someone to kidnap Kaeva anyway. He must have figured out that there was no way I was going to hand her over, though I couldn’t be sure how he had found out about her.
