Sunlight cuts through the hospital blinds, pulling me from sleep. I reach for Lucas's side of the bed first—empty sheets, cool to the touch. Logan's side too.

The ache settles somewhere behind my ribs. Not physical. Something else that makes the room feel too quiet, too still.
