Emily's POV

I froze the moment I saw him standing outside the door. Tyler’s eyes met mine. For a second, neither of us said anything.

“She’s asleep,” I said quietly, my voice tired. I didn’t wait for him to respond. I turned and began to walk past him.

“Emily,” he called out.

I stopped for a brief moment, but I didn’t turn around. My throat felt too tight, and my chest hurt too much. So I just kept walking.
