Emily's POV

I didn’t even notice the rain soaking through my clothes or the mud sticking to my shoes. I just ran, crying, gasping for air, barely seeing the puddles in front of me.

Every step felt like fire in my legs, but it didn’t matter. I didn't even care about the fact that I had almost gotten hit by a car a couple of times. The pain in my legs couldn't be compared to the pain in my heart.
