“Young Master Slade, there is a new tech on hand prosthetic.“ Secretary Song, a man in his mid fifties informed his boss, the CEO of Ethan International, CEO Slade. The latter paused his writing and received a tablet from the secretary.
“Bionic prosthetic?“ He asked as he swiped.
“Yes, they are advanced and are controlled by microprocessors.“ He replied respectfully.
“Which company makes them?“
“Open Door AI limited.“
“Reach out to them and offer a deal if it is not on the market already.“ He handed the tablet back.
“Young Master, the personnel manager has candidates for the post you requested.“
“Tell him to send them in at once.“ He replied without lifting his head again.
Ten minutes later, the secretary entered with two young ladies.
“Just two?“
“The others left.“
“You can leave.“ He ordered the secretary and as the door closed, Leona let out a soft breath.
He is a beauty. Gosh Leona thought as she tried very hard to look away from him but to no avail. CEO Slade was in his late twenties, and a successful heir of his family's great wealth. He was labelled the god of looks because his face shape was sculptured and strong with a defined jawline. His nose, straight like a typical American and his lips full but masculine. His hair added effortless charm to his features: thick, luscious and well styled. But his eyes, were the most attractive of his features. They had a shade of hazel and a captivating but cold gaze. Leona was torn between looking into them and avoiding them.
“Please have a seat.“ He said, interrupting her fantasies.
“Miss Ty.“ he greeted.
“CEO Slade. I'm glad to meet you. My father sends his regards.“ she smiled sweetly, hoping to get to him.
He nodded, then looked at the other woman who sat there, unknown and silent.
“Why just the two of you? I learnt the rest left shortly before I arrived.“ he asked, looking at both of them.
Leona shrugged, “She made them leave. She resorted to bullying tactics. Tell him, will you?“ Leona eyed her disdainfully.
“This is a job interview, Miss Ty.“ She replied with a sharp look.
CEO Slade had a teasing smile too faint to be noticed at a glance.
The other lady was beautiful. Lovely even and she had an edge; her confidence was compelling. He was curious all of a sudden so he went through their CVs carefully and then asked Leona to step out.
“Why?“ Leona questioned. “We're acquaintances. You shouldn't soil our relationship like this, Young Master Slade.“ She could not accept that she was not picked. Her pride was hurt.
His eyes turned cold. “This is ridiculous, Miss Ty. I don't have any relationship with you but with your family. And I asked you to step out for just a moment but with this attitude, I think you can say goodbye to the job. I would not condone insubordination.“ He pressed a button and two men came in to escort her out but not without her resisting.
“Now, Miss Indigo Liam, I am impressed with your CV here. It says you studied business administration, mathematics and Data science.“
“Yes.“
“And you are British American?“ he smiled. That explained her exotic look. Slim face, chiselled cheekbones, large eyes and delicate features.
“You are officially hired as my personal assistant. I would have preferred a married lady because I don't believe in romance and love. So, if you have any plans of the sort, I suggest you drop it.“
This piqued her interest. “You're allergic to women or do you just hate romance?“
He threw his jacket at her with a glance. “That's none of your business. Get to work.“

During lunch break, she took her time off to join the other staff in the cafeteria. The moment she entered, heads turned and she could hear whisperings. Of course they must be talking about the Boss' new personal assistant who had long slender legs. And how she was a mix blood too but that didn't matter to her. She was used to it. Ordering a plate of food, she dove into the dish, her surroundings fading into oblivion.
“You seem to enjoy your meal very much.“
“Of course I do.“ She swallowed and turned to the speaker with a smile.
A blonde lady with a gap tooth was sitting beside her.
“Call me Carla.“ She offered a handshake.
“Indigo.“
“As in, the colour?“
“Yes.“
“What's your post?“ She asked while forking a large piece of braised pork.
“The CEO's PA.“
Carla looked surprised but her expression was a little weird. “That's cool.“
“What's wrong with that?“
“Nothing. You know you're lucky. Most of the ladies here like him and since you'll be in their way, you be careful.“
“Including you?“ Indigo probed.
“Ah no. I'm engaged already.“ Carla chuckled dryly revealing her engagement ring rather unwillingly.
“The thing is, I won't be in their way. He is an anti romantic afterall. Doesn't believe in love.“
“Really?? That's huge. Hoho…” Carla laughed.
“He's never really you know, dated?“ She inquired.
“Hmm… all what surrounds him are rumours though.“

After lunch, she took the elevator to the top floor where the CEO's and her office were located, she stood by a see-through window and watched him work. He looked so alluring when focused that she subconsciously blushed. However she did not expect him to look up at that moment. As their gaze collided, her heart skipped a beat and she looked away immediately. She hurried to her office and shut the door.
“I'm so crazy, this is so…” she exhaled.
Indigo, get a grip on yourself. This is not what you came for.
Her telephone rang; the ringtone specifically the CEO's. She stilled.
Why is he calling? Is this about the stare?
Nonetheless, she entered his office.
“We will be receiving some very important visitors tomorrow. Prepare a spacious conference room to receive them.“
“Is it a meeting, Boss?“
“Yes, a very important one.“ He removed his jacket, exposing his masculine frame underneath. Indigo averted her eyes.
“What is the agenda, so I might take minutes.“
“It will be top secret. No minutes shall be taken.“ He didn't care to clarify her questions.
“And if you want to stare at me, do it directly. I know I am handsome.“
Damnit! She felt embarrassed. He was so shamelessly arrogant. She wanted the floor to open up and swallow her.
In the privacy of her office, she pondered on the information.
A Top secret meeting. No minutes taken.
Her curiosity was piqued tremendously.
