Chapter 3; Are You Here To Seduce Me?

Dolled up in a body fitting blouse and a formal black skirt that showed her curves, she complemented the outfit with a wedge. Her hair was simply let to fall and its length was enviable—just right above her bottom; she had a slim and longer torso than most ladies and it was simply breathtaking when she showed it off. Also, her hair had a faint natural luster to it—a mystery she intended to keep forever but the future will tell. She admired her reflection on the mirror for a while before she left the house. Upon stepping out the door, she got a fright. Right outside her door was Brian Sean standing perfectly still with a bag slung over his shoulder.

“Hey, what the hell!“ She exclaimed.

“She's so lovely.“ He mumbled in a daze.

“I came to give you a ride.“ He said, offering his hand like a gentleman.

“You spooked me! And thank you, but I don't want your ride.“ She glared at him and walked away.

“I don't know what I've done to you that you dislike me so much.“ He followed her, seeking an explanation.

“Maybe it is because of the fact that you have traced me endlessly over the years. This is an obsession.“

“I'm not obsessed over you, Indigo. I have a family.“ He defended.

She chuckled disdainfully. “You call that family? A woman who is about to divorce you and a kid who—”

“I know.“ He interrupted showing her to his car.

“That way.“

Indigo felt she had gone overboard. Afterall, no matter how much she tried to deny it, they were friends and she had received his help countless times.

“I'm sorry, Brian.“

“It's okay.“ But the hurt was tangible enough for her to feel it.

“ I'm here to warn you about what you're about to do.“ His demeanor was serious.

Indigo sighed. “You know nothing, Brian. I just came here to start over afresh.“

He looked at her for a while.

That stare, he often gave her in middle school when he was trying to pinpoint the truth from her lies. She was five classes below him then but caught up to him in college for some reasons.

He had dated one of her sisters for five months, dumped her and later declared his interest in Indigo who turned him down with a fierce curse, “May your prick shrink to the size of a thorn and may every woman you meet shiver in repulsion of it.“

The girl she was, was exceptional and bubbly. He grew to love her despite all she did to him. Hence he followed her from college to grad school and on. Later he left to start a family but here they were years later.

“When I didn't come to you, you came to me.“ He mumbled, holding her left wrist.

“I didn't come for you.“ She corrected and freed her hand.

“Then why are you here in Mexico city?“ he probed. “Tell me the truth, Indigo.“

There was silence. Then she cried,

“I'm running late, damnit! Second day at work.“

She watched the CEO's call coming through in her phone and the endlessly long traffic that seemed to claw at her nerves.

She was late. And to worsen matters, the VIP elevator that she was permitted to use with the CEO was locked. She had to use the general elevator.

“You're the CEO's Personal Assistant?“ A young woman asked.

“Yes.“

“Did you seduce him to get this job?“ Irene Walker criticized, looking Indigo up and down.

Indigo was so annoyed, “Flies buzzing in my ears. Yes I did, what can you do about that?“ She answered provocatively.

Irene looked like she was about to spew fire from her eyes. She itched badly to pull off Indigo's lengthy hair, assuming it was artificial. Indigo could feel her back heat up from Irene's hate stare but that wasn't on her mind.

Would Young Master Slade be angry?

As she entered his office, she met him putting on a casual shirt for work.

“You did not knock.“ His voice was deep and serious.

Flustered, she started apologizing.

“Save your breath.“ He turned around.

His breath caught at the sight of her. He didn't know she could be this ravishing. His breath quickened as he backed her into a corner, placing one hand on the wall above her head and leaning in close.

“Are you here to seduce me?“ He asked in a low, flat voice while staring into her face.

“No Boss. I just..“ she shook her head regrettably.

“You wear a long hair and dress in tight clothes just to work for me? Is this what made you late?“ he demanded, lifting her chin with the other hand. His mint breath was spilling on her face and the atmosphere was getting increasingly…. intimate . His eyes searched her face, then landed on her pink lips. His breath hitched. But he let go of her all of a sudden and turned away.

“Get a navy blue suit from secretary Song as a uniform. And dress properly.“

“Yes Boss.“ She nodded.

“The guests will be here in an hour.“ He took his keys and exited the office.

Indigo heaved and rubbed her forehead.

The entrance of a Bentley Mulsanne, a Maybach 57S Knight, a Bugatti Veyron, and two other luxury cars she couldn't recognize stunned Indigo. The guests were indeed very important. Were they top government officials? She could not recognize any of them as they alighted— all men in their late sixties and all dressed like influential individuals.

Reality mocked Indigo as she stared at the closed conference door. Her boss had asked her to leave. She could take a big risk by going in to deliver a message but would it be worth it? She tapped her thigh in thought.

Then an idea occurred to her.

The conference door opened as indigo entered and all eyes turned to her.

“My apologies, gentlemen.“ She said, then whispered something to Young Master Slade to which he nodded.

“Is that your secretary, Young Master Slade?“ A bald Chinese man asked.

“Did you replace Mr Song?“

“She is my Assistant.“ He replied curtly.

“Let's continue.“

Indigo had secretly attached a minute recording device to the back of her Boss's seat. She was now listening to the feed from her office.

“Is that your secretary, Young Master Slade? Did you replace Mr Song?“

“She is my assistant. Let's continue.“

“The impact of this technology on the global scale will have to be reassessed, Doctor Elias.“

“I suggest you reassess its benefits instead, Lord Weber. With its extraordinary abilities, we will become the most powerful in the world. Can you honestly reject that?“

“Who is the brain behind this tech?“

“A woman named Ms Park. That is all I was told.“

Shocked, Indigo rewinded it. That name, Ms Park. She just needed the full name of the woman. She rose from her seat and started pacing about in serious thought, oblivious of the man watching her from the door.
