Chapter 5; Project Skyline

The following day, Indigo spent an hour going through the company's intranet for information on some employees. Her slogan was— Knowledge is power so know your enemies and allies— she rarely went into a battlefield unprepared. That was how she knew those info about the interviewees that came for the job. Though she had to do just more than looking up their info on the internet. The internet didn't provide a lot of things she needed. Most times she had to hack her way through. Yes that was who she was— a hacker— but very few people knew the extent of her skill.

She saw on the intranet that Irene Walker was just 29. She had gone on a scholarship from middle school to university where the scholarship was withdrawn in her third year for some reasons.

Hm, I'll like to know this reason. She mused.

Irene studied estate management in Cambridge University and graduated with first class honours. This was enough to show how formidable she was in her field.

Indigo took her laptop down to the 20th floor where the Real Estate Division office was located. She had no idea how the cooperation would go but she was not going to tolerate shit from anybody— not even the bitch, Irene Walker.

As she stepped out of the elevator onto the 20th floor, she received stares but she was used to it.

“Excuse me, where can I find your director?“ She asked a skeptical looking woman.

“You're the CEO's PA?“

“Sure.“ She smiled.

“That is Director Walker's office.“ she pointed.

Indigo thanked her and went to knock on the door.

No reply. She pushed the door open but Irene was not in. Looking around, she tried not to feel the humiliation as the staff there watched the CEO's PA wait around for a supposed subordinate.

Slade, I won't let you off for this.

She swore to herself.

“Are you looking for me?“

Indigo turned and found Irene entering her office aloofly. She gave Indigo a nasty stare as the latter followed her in. Her office was a well decorated room with her medals and gold rimmed photos of glory days hung on the wall.

Seeing Indigo look around, she clapped.

“Welcome to my spacious abode. I'm sure you're shocked. Those photos are of my achievements in college: when I was the president and vice president of many clubs in Cambridge.“ She smiled at the memories.

“A place trash like you can never dream to be even if given unlimited tries.“ She chuckled in a taunting manner.

“Irene Walker. I am here to supervise Project Skyline not to listen to your vain accolades.“ Indigo clarified sternly.

“And I am the head of this division, bitch. You can't waltz in here and act like you're some entity.“ She stressed menacingly.

“Take me to the team members responsible for this project.“ Indigo ordered, staring her down.

The war had begun.

Irene clenched her jaw and leaned in to speak to her, “I will take your place beside Young Master Slade and I will destroy you in the most unsuspecting of ways, Indigo Liam.“

The threat hung heavy in the air. Indigo stared hatefully at Irene who was guffawing like an insane woman.

For Project Skyline, the team consisted of 5 professionals excluding Indigo the acting supervisor and and Irene, the head of the division. They gathered in a big office to welcome Indigo.

“I'm pleased to present Indigo Liam. She will be acting as the supervisor for this project.“ Irene welcomed with a forced smile.

There was an applause from the team members.

“I am the CEO's assistant. I'm here on his orders to supervise this project.“ Indigo added as she stepped down from the podium gracefully. There was a louder applause of admiration. Irene clenched her fists in hatred. But she could not allow her subordinates to notice her weird behaviour.

After Indigo's familiarization with the team members— which consisted of two women and three men—she asked for a projector to be set up to discuss their work. Then she put on her glasses and listened raptly to Irene.

“…This property offers us a unique opportunity to elevate our company's profile in the estate market. Here are photos showing its location, neighbouring developments, and designs.“

“We're going to take some very important steps to acquiring Skyline Towers. We will carry out market analysis, financial projection, and risk assessment. Any additions?“

Indigo raised her hand.

“Add on site inspection as well as a contingency plan.“

“Contingency plan for?“ asked Frederick McKinney, a young man with a carefree attitude. He had that relaxed aura like nothing much mattered to him but for some reasons, Indigo took an instant dislike to him.

“We need a contingency plan for unexpected competition. We must acquire this property. Since we're competing, the company's image is on the line here.“ Indigo rose.

“With how influential the company is, we can skip that. Skyline Towers us definitely ours.“ McKinney chuckled.

“Then, we'll leave that to the Strategic Consultant, Mr Hunter.“ Irene shrugged.

After the meeting, Indigo tried to chat with the two women on the team; Carla and Mrs Johnny but they seemed evasive. She knew Irene was at it again. She didn't care what the bitch did but the successful completion of the project was her goal.

And then, I'll be out of this hell hole. She thought, walking down the flower path to the car park to retrieve an item. That was when she saw it— heard it, rather.

The place was quiet except for noises from one of the cars which she traced to be Irene's.

She was astonished to see two figures banging in the car during work hours.

So she fucks a co-worker. What a nice game.

The duo were kissing passionately, half undressed. Irene kept urging him to go faster admist her moans. However, he climaxed before she did, thereby frustrating her and her pent up needs.

She moved away from his lap, and grabbed a cigarette from her handbag puffing it with trembling hands.

“Young Master Slade can do this better, Fred.“

“Don't compare us.“ He stated, pulling up his trousers.

“You bring her down, get your 'trophy' and we go our separate ways.“

“Yea, this project's our only chance. I will slam her so hard she never rises. No one takes what's mine.“ She puffed out a long trail of smoke, then began to dress up.

“What is your plan?“ He asked.
