I now understand the real reason that most vampires probably prefer their attendants to be glamored.

The device connects to a person’s neurotransmitters and it can be felt by the companion remotely, allowing vampires to ‘sense’ their attendant—and tell a master if their attendant is in proximity or in physical pain.
