Sunlight spilled through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the bedroom. A soft ray landed on my face, and I stirred.

I peeled my eyes open, and a smile flitted across my lips as I recalled last night— except, I glanced at his side of the bed, and he was gone.

“Alec?”

I sat up against the plush pillows and yawned, then slid out of bed and checked the bathroom.

He wasn’t there. Neither was he in the closet...
