My lips parted in a soundless gasp, eyes locked on the impossible sight of my boss.

She leaned back into the chair and rocked it slightly. “Hello, Mabel.”

“Mrs. Allwell,” I breathed.

“Good morning.”

My heels clicked on the marble floor as I crossed the room and sat in the visitor's chair. “Welcome. When did you fly in?”

“Last night. But I checked in your mansion, and you weren't there.”
