The atmosphere during the drive back feels entirely different than it had on the way to the orphanage. The weight of earlier tension has lifted, giving way to something lighter, something warmer. Lyra chatters animatedly from the back seat, her excitement bubbling over as she talks about her flower-shaped bread.
