"I pity you. He could have chosen you as the better option, but he didn't and settled for the pretty face with nothing to offer," I said the words slowly, letting it sink in. Enjoying the way she trembled.

“And that,” I added, stepping closer until we were nearly face to face, “must sting.” That went straight to her heart.
