Rowan's POV

The food supplies were running low again.

Rowan noticed it first during the evening meal distribution when the portions looked significantly smaller than they had been just a week ago. The deer meat that should have lasted another three days was already gone, and what remained was mostly root vegetables and stale bread that nobody wanted to eat unless they were desperate.

And desperate was exactly what they were becoming.
