Damien’s POV

The forest at the edge of Shadowmoon territory was quiet. Damien moved through the trees and found Celeste exactly where the scout had reported seeing her, standing in a small clearing wearing a black dress that seemed to absorb the moonlight rather than reflect it.

She looked exactly as he remembered her from their last meeting, young and beautiful in a way that didn't quite sit right when you knew how old she actually was and what she had done to maintain that ...
