He scooped me up into his arms effortlessly like I weighed nothing at all. My breath hitched as his chest pressed against my side, firm and warm, the steady rhythm of his heart somehow syncing with mine.
I wanted to protest, to tell him I could manage to walk, despite the pain I feel in my knees, that I wasn't used to anything like this.
But the words tangled in my throat.
I wish I could perceive his scent like other wolves and know if he was really saying the truth or maybe something.
But again why would he lie I was his mate? I've got nothing to offer, absolutely nothing, what will he stand to gain even as a slave I wouldn't be rated.
Yet for the first time I didn't feel forced to do anything and maybe peace, even though I didn't know what the mate bond feels like, I like the feelings of being in Alpha Donovan's hands.
He carried me through the pack grounds without breaking his gaze from me.
Every step he took was steady, powerful each stride marking his authority. The pack members watched in silence, their eyes wide, but Alpha Donovan.
He didn’t care. His attention never left me.
When we reached his car, a sleek black SUV that reflected the moonlight like polished obsidian he opened the door with one hand, still holding me in the other. The scent of leather and his cologne filled the space, dizzying me further.
He gently placed me on the seat, his hands lingering for a heartbeat longer than necessary.
“Buckle up,” he said softly, his voice a dangerous mix of command and promise.
Then he moved around to the driver’s side, sliding in with a grace that shouldn’t have belonged to someone his size. The engine roared to life, and before I knew it, we were leaving the Red Moon pack behind.
I turned to look at him once more the glow from the dashboard lighting up his sharp features.
His jaw was clenched, his eyes focused on the road, but I could feel the tension radiating off him.
“Where are you taking me?” I finally whispered.
He glanced at me briefly the corner of his mouth lifting just slightly.
“Home,” he said simply. “To my pack.
And just like that, my heart skipped again.
There was something in his tone something raw, unshakable that told me he wasn’t just taking me to his territory.
He was taking me into his world.
I wasn’t sure if I was being taken… or if I was finally being found.
But deep down, I knew one thing was certain, nothing would ever be the same again.
The journey felt longer than it really was. Maybe it was because every second in that car with him felt stretched, heavy with unspoken emotions and the strange energy that kept pulling me towards him.
Alpha Donovan didn’t speak much during the ride.
His focus remained on the road, his hands gripping the steering wheel firmly, veins standing out against his tanned skin. But every so often, I’d catch him glancing at me just a flicker of his silver eyes.
Outside, the moon hung high and bright, bathing the forest in silver light. When the car finally turned off the main road and followed a narrow path through towering trees, my heartbeat quickened. I could sense it even before I saw it, as his pack’s territory.
The air here felt different. Denser. Charged with power.
As the trees cleared, I gasped softly.
The pack lands spread out before us like something out of a dream. Wooden cabins and stone houses surrounded a wide clearing where warriors trained even at night.
Beyond that stood the largest building of all a grand mansion with high walls and warm golden lights spilling from its windows. It was both beautiful and intimidating, a perfect reflection of the man beside me.
“My pack,” silver claw.
Alpha Donovan said quietly, as if reading my thoughts. His voice was calm, but there was something deeper beneath it. Possession. Pride. Maybe even anticipation.
He parked the car near the mansion and stepped out first. Then, before I could open my door, he was already there, opening it for me. His hand extended toward me, palm up firm, certain.
I hesitated only a second before placing my hand in his. The contact sent a jolt up my arm, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe.
As I stepped out, dozens of eyes turned toward us. Warriors stopped mid-swing, omegas paused with their baskets, and whispers started spreading like wildfire.
Their curiosity pressed in on me like a wave, and I fought the urge to step back. But Donovan’s hand moved to my lower back, steady and protective, guiding me forward.
We climbed the steps of the mansion together. Inside, the scent of polished wood and pine surrounded me.
The place was elegant but wild, like its owner.
“This is where you’ll be staying,” he said, pushing open the door to a large room. It was beautiful soft lights, warm colors, a bed big enough for a queen. My heart raced at the realization that I was in the Alpha’s home.
He stepped closer. So close that I could feel his breath brush against my skin. His eyes lingered on my lips for a heartbeat, then lifted to meet my face again.
“You should rest,” he murmured.
And then, just like that, he turned and left the room, closing the door behind him.
I stood there for a long time, trying to calm my racing heart. The room felt too big, too quiet, and yet his scent clung to the air strong, steady, claiming.
I wandered to the window, looking out at the glowing lights of the pack house. It all felt surreal. Hours ago, I was part of the Red Moon pack. Now I was in the territory of a man who made my pulse race with a single glance, a man as dangerous as him.
Under the roof the most dangerous and ruthless Alpha, he wasn't just a ruthless man, he is the brother of the man who broke me.
After the bath, food and long sleep, rest for hours ,Just as I started to breathe easier, the door creaked open behind me.
I turned, expecting to see Alpha Donovan again. But it wasn’t him.
A woman stood in the doorway tall, stunning, with long dark curls cascading down her back.
Her fitted black dress hugged her figure perfectly, and her blue eyes were sharp enough to cut. She didn’t say a word, but her expression said everything.
Anger. Disbelief. Possession.
Her gaze dropped from my face to my body, synchronizing my whole body.
“So,” she said finally, her voice cool and edged with venom. “its you.
The air between us crackled with tension, and my heart thudded painfully in my chest.
I swallowed hard, realizing that whatever peace I thought I’d find here… was only just an illusion.
