Alpha Kwan POV.
We finally got the chance to go back to my Pack together as one small family - me, my son, and Isabella. She had proven to me and everyone else that she would make an exceptional mother, and I was absolutely certain of this fact. Not for a single moment did I doubt her maternal instincts or her dedication to Juan.
"You know, Kwan," Isabella said softly as we walked through the pack grounds, "I never imagined I could love someone so completely, so instantly." Her eyes sparkled with genuine emotion as she spoke about Juan.
But what truly amazed me was how she demonstrated that her love and desire to be a mother ran deeper than I had ever anticipated. I understood perfectly well that what existed between Isabella and me wasn't the kind of passionate, all-consuming love that romance novels described. Instead, it was something more profound - a sacred vow to stand by each other through everything life could throw at us. We had built our relationship on mutual respect, deep understanding, and unwavering commitment.
"I think what we have is better than those fairy tale romances," I told her one evening as we watched Juan sleep. "We chose each other with our minds as well as our hearts."
Isabella smiled and squeezed my hand. "You're right. This feels more real, more lasting."
We genuinely cared about each other's wellbeing and happiness, and I couldn't help but notice that my son had played an absolutely crucial role in weaving together the strong, unbreakable bonds that now connected all three of us as a true family unit.
Her father, Alpha Dark, had graciously invited us to stay for lunch at the pack house, but Isabella politely yet firmly insisted that we continue our journey home. She promised him with a warm smile, "Daddy, I'll come back to visit in just a couple of days. I want to show you how well Juan is settling into his new life."
"You don't have to rush off, sweetheart," Alpha Dark had said, concern evident in his voice. "You're always welcome here for as long as you need."
But Isabella shook her head determinedly. "Thank you, but I need to get Juan home. He needs routine and stability right now."
I decided not to pressure her to stay any longer because I could sense her underlying anxiety and discomfort. She confided in me later that she felt deeply worried that Juan's grandfather might try to manipulate the situation and somehow find a way to take Juan away from her protective care.
"I know it sounds paranoid," she whispered to me during our drive home, "but I can't shake this feeling that someone's going to try to separate us."
"Hey, look at me," I said, pulling over to cup her face gently. "No one - and I mean absolutely no one - is going to take our son away from us. I promise you that."
To help calm her nerves and provide her with the security she desperately needed, I made the decision to take both of them directly back to the safety and comfort of our castle, where we could create our own peaceful sanctuary.
We ended up spending the entire day nestled together in Juan's beautifully decorated nursery. Isabella refused to leave his side even for a moment, hovering over his crib like a protective guardian angel. She only forced herself to eat small portions of food for Juan's sake, wanting to maintain her strength for him, but I could tell she had absolutely no appetite whatsoever due to her anxiety.
"You need to eat more than that," I encouraged her gently. "Juan needs his mama to be healthy and strong."
"I know, I know," she sighed, picking at her sandwich. "I just can't seem to work up any hunger when I'm this worried."
"What if I make you that soup you love? The one with the herbs from the garden?" I suggested.
Her face softened slightly. "That actually sounds wonderful. Thank you for being so patient with me."
I found myself watching her play with Juan with overwhelming feelings of appreciation, love, and gratitude, and I silently thanked the Moon Goddess for blessing me with such an absolutely amazing, devoted woman to share my life and help raise my precious son.
I even found myself internally cursing Nathan for being such a complete fool and losing her in the first place. Seriously, the man must have been absolutely blind and stupid beyond belief. Isabella was pure and clear like crystal - innocent yet incredibly brave and fierce when it came to protecting something or someone she loved with all her heart.
"That Nathan guy must have rocks for brains," I muttered under my breath while watching Isabella sing softly to Juan.
"Did you say something?" Isabella asked, looking up with curious eyes.
"Just thinking about how lucky I am," I replied with a genuine smile.
I could still vividly remember how she had stood there so courageously, facing down our entire pack leadership and yelling with fierce determination, "No one - absolutely no one - will ever take Juan away from me! I'll fight anyone who tries!"
I honestly had no idea where she had found such incredible courage and strength in that moment, but she had risen to the occasion magnificently. And I was incredibly proud of her for standing her ground so boldly.
"You were amazing that day," I told her. "The way you stood up to everyone, even when you were scared."
"I was terrified," she admitted. "But the thought of losing Juan gave me strength I didn't know I had."
"That's what real love does," I said. "It makes us braver than we ever thought possible."
My condition about providing her with proper education and teaching her advanced skills was truly for her benefit only, nothing more. She had always expressed a genuine desire to better herself intellectually and personally, and she was particularly eager to discover and develop her latent supernatural powers. I simply wanted to help her achieve those goals and reach her full potential as both a person and a Luna.
"I want to learn everything," she had told me earnestly. "I want to be worthy of being Juan's mother and your Luna."
"You're already worthy," I assured her. "But I love that you want to grow and improve. That's the mark of a true leader."
And regardless of what anyone else thought or tried to do, I absolutely refused to let anyone take my only precious son away from me. I would gladly go to war, fight battles, and face any enemy to keep my child safe and protected. I wasn't weak or helpless in any way - I was one of the strongest Alphas in the region, and everyone knew it.
"If anyone tries to take Juan," I had declared to my Beta, "they'll have to go through me first. And I promise you, that won't end well for them."
Finally, after hours of playing and bonding, Juan drifted off into peaceful sleep, and I whispered softly to Isabella, "Sweetheart, can we go back to our room now? Juan's perfectly safe here."
She looked at me as if I had just suggested something absolutely terrible and shocking. She raised her eyebrows high and said firmly, "Absolutely not. No way."
I opened my mouth in complete shock and disbelief. "Why not? We can't realistically stay with him every minute of every day and night! We do have our own lives to live as a couple. We just mated recently, and we need private time together to strengthen our bond and-"
She cut me off with such a stern, authoritative tone that I found myself unable to continue the discussion. "I already said no, Kwan. That's my final answer."
I narrowed my eyes dangerously and stood up to my full, intimidating height. I raised one eyebrow and asked her again with barely controlled authority, "Are you absolutely sure about this decision?"
She nodded stubbornly, and just before she could settle down to sleep right next to Juan's crib, I swiftly flipped her over my shoulder in one smooth motion. "Okay then, we'll do this your way," I said with a low chuckle.
She immediately began struggling and protesting loudly, "Put me down right now! I mean it, Kwan!"
I delivered a sharp smack to her ass and warned in a dangerous voice, "One more word of protest, and the dominant side of me will give you a punishment you won't soon forget."
But I suspected she was far too stubborn and defiant to believe that I would actually follow through with rough punishment that might make her cry real tears. Instead of heading to our bedroom as she expected, I carried her directly to my personal library - yes, I maintained my own private collection. In my younger days, I had called it simply "the study room."
"Where are we going?" Isabella asked, her struggles becoming less intense as curiosity took over.
"You'll see," I replied mysteriously.
I used to spend countless hours there during long nights, reading voraciously and sometimes attempting to write little poems and short stories. I wasn't particularly experienced or talented at creative writing, but I genuinely enjoyed the peaceful, meditative process of putting words on paper.
I was fairly certain she hadn't discovered or noticed this particular room yet during her explorations of the castle. I opened the heavy wooden door, gently pushed her inside the book-lined sanctuary, and then deliberately locked the door behind us with a decisive click.
She stared at me with obvious confusion written all over her beautiful face. I shook my head and explained patiently, "No, this is a completely different library from the main one I showed you when you first arrived here."
Isabella looked around the cozy, intimate space with growing wonder, taking in the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, the comfortable reading chairs, and the large mahogany desk. Then she did her absolute best to push past me and reach the door handle so she could escape back to Juan's room. I quickly grabbed her delicate wrist and roared with frustration, "Where the hell do you think you're going?" That was honestly the very first time I had ever raised my voice at her in anger.
She gulped nervously, her eyes widening in surprise, and commented in a small voice, "That's the first time you've ever yelled at me like that!"
I huffed deeply and blew out a sharp, frustrated sigh. "Yes, and I apologize for losing my temper. But you're acting incredibly childish right now. I need you to understand that absolutely no one is going to take Juan away from you. I will never, ever let that happen, no matter what."
"But what if-" she started to protest.
"No what-ifs," I interrupted firmly. "I'm the Alpha here, and my word is law. Juan is safe, you're safe, and our family is protected."
She made an adorable puppy dog face that tugged at my heartstrings and asked hopefully, "Can you promise me that? Really and truly promise?"
I decided to playfully tease her a bit, so I casually walked away toward the tall window overlooking the gardens. I slowly lit a cigar, took a long, deliberate puff, and said with calculated calmness, "Well, that depends on several factors."
"Depends on what?" she asked, panic creeping into her voice as she dragged her feet across the carpet to reach me. She placed both of her small hands on my back pleadingly.
I turned my body around slowly and deliberately, then smoothly pinned her against the corner where two bookcases met. I moved my hands slowly and teasingly to cup her breasts and whispered in a husky voice, "The condition I mentioned before - did you forget already? You need to study hard and prove yourself intellectually to keep Juan as your son permanently. Otherwise-"
She blurted out nervously, interrupting me mid-sentence, "Okay, okay! I'll do whatever you want! I'll study as hard as you need me to!"
I winked at her playfully and said with satisfaction, "Perfect. Then it's time to begin your education." I guided her gently but firmly toward the massive oak desk positioned in the center of the room, then gallantly pulled out the leather chair for her to sit down. I selected a thick, leather-bound book from one of the shelves and placed it directly in front of her with a soft thud. "Now, I want you to read this entire book carefully and provide me with a comprehensive, detailed summary by midnight tonight."
She looked down at the imposing tome with confusion and growing shock written all over her face. "But Kwan, this is a novel! It's over 600 pages long! How am I supposed to read all of this in just a few hours?"
I leaned down and kissed her forehead tenderly, then said with finality, "Yes, that's exactly what I expect. Read every single page. I'll return to check on your progress later this evening."
"Kwan, please, this is impossible-" she began to protest.
