Isabella Pov.
I had actually tried to tell Nathan about Ethan's inappropriate behavior and advances before, but he had never given me a real chance to explain the situation fully, and he had even warned me about saying anything negative about his Beta.
"He won't believe me," I thought desperately. "He trusts Ethan too much."
I simply shrugged my shoulders and responded as quietly and calmly as I could manage, "Nathan, how should I know who sent these things?
Someone has sent gifts like this before, and honestly, I thought they were from you at first. That's actually what made me decide to come to your castle and meet you in the first place -- I thought you were trying to court me."
Nathan didn't look even remotely convinced by my answer, and I could see the suspicion growing in his eyes.
He began searching through every inch of the basket, examining it thoroughly, and to my complete shock and horror, he found a small note hidden at the bottom that simply read [you are mine].
Nathan's eyes immediately snapped up to stare at me with intensity and growing anger. "Isabella, who would dare to say to you that 'you are mine'?" he demanded, his voice low and dangerous. "Who has the audacity to claim you like that?"
I was genuinely confused by his assumption and decided to challenge it. "Nathan, why are you automatically assuming that note was meant for me?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. "Maybe it was actually intended for you! Maybe someone is trying to send you a message!"
We both gazed down at the beautiful flowers for a long, tense moment, both of us trying to figure out what this all meant.
Suddenly, Nathan grabbed the expensive bottle of whiskey and smashed it violently against the wall, sending glass and liquid everywhere.
Then he grabbed me somewhat aggressively and dragged me quickly to the bathroom, pushing me directly into the large bathtub and turning on the water so that it splashed and cascaded over both of our bodies.
"Isabella, you need to understand something right now," he thundered before kissing me roughly and intensely, with a passion that was almost overwhelming.
"You are mine -- mine to touch, mine to kiss, mine to love, and mine to breed. You belong only to me, and no one else will ever have any claim on you!"
As he spoke these possessive words, he grazed my lips with his teeth just hard enough that I could taste some of my own blood in my mouth, which should have been frightening but instead sent shivers of excitement through my entire body.
He then licked the small drops of blood away and declared with absolute conviction, "And I am yours forever, completely and totally yours, Isabella."
He was absolutely right about that -- he was mine, and I was his, and I was ready to go into any war necessary to keep him safe and alive and by my side.
Even if that meant making the most difficult sacrifice of all -- even if it meant leaving him to protect him.
…..
Alpha Nathan's POV
I had absolutely no fucking idea who could have possibly sent these expensive whiskey bottles along with that cryptic, threatening note and those beautiful flowers, but it definitely seemed to me like someone was actively chasing Isabella or, in other words, stalking her in a very dangerous and concerning way.
"Who the hell would have the audacity to do something like this?" I muttered under my breath, my hands clenching into fists as I examined the items again. "And why now? Why when everything was finally going well between us?"
The thought of some unknown person pursuing my mate made my blood boil with rage and protective instincts.
I trusted Isabella completely and without question - more than I had ever trusted anyone in my entire life - but the mere idea that I might have a rival for her love absolutely terrified me to my core.
"What if she decides he's better than me?" I thought, panic rising in my chest. "What if I lose her to someone else who can offer her things I can't?"
The possibility that I might lose her at any point to some mysterious suitor made me feel sick to my stomach and filled me with a desperate need to claim her even more completely than I already had.
"She's mine," I told myself firmly. "She chose me, and I'm not going to let anyone take her away."
What made this situation even more concerning and puzzling was that whoever sent this gift clearly knew the entire story about our relationship and our location.
"This person knows way too much about us," I realized with growing alarm. "They know where we are, they know about our connection, they probably know about her real identity too."
Everyone in the area knew that the lake house belonged to the Alpha family, so who could possibly dare to venture there in the darkest part of the night, ring the bell boldly, and leave this threatening gift without any fear of consequences?
"It had to be someone with serious connections or someone who's completely reckless," I thought, running through possibilities in my mind. "Either way, they're dangerous."
My mind was completely lost and spinning frantically as I tried to find answers to all of these troubling questions that were plaguing me, but at least I knew one absolutely certain thing that gave me some comfort - Isabella was mine, completely and totally mine, and she loved me with all her heart and soul.
"That's what matters most," I reminded myself, trying to calm down. "Whatever this person wants, whatever game they're playing, Isabella and I are solid. Our bond is unbreakable."
And that knowledge was the most important thing to me in the entire world; I trusted her genuinely and completely, even more than I trusted myself sometimes. "She would never betray me," I told myself. "She's proven her loyalty over and over again."
After I had calmed down somewhat from my initial rage and panic, I took Isabella in my arms and kissed her tenderly, spending a long time apologizing profusely for dragging her so aggressively to the shower room and for making love to her so roughly when I was upset about the mysterious gift.
"I'm so sorry, my love," I whispered against her lips, holding her close. "I never should have taken my anger out on you like that. You didn't deserve to be treated roughly just because I was upset about something that wasn't even your fault."
I felt terrible about losing control of my emotions and letting my jealousy and protective instincts override my better judgment.
Then I decided that I wanted to pamper her and make up for my earlier behavior before we had to leave this peaceful sanctuary and return to the real world.
I gently helped her get dressed, taking my time to button her shirt and smooth down her hair with tender care.
She just kept staring at me with a confused but amused expression on her beautiful face. "Nathan, it's really okay," she said softly, reaching up to touch my cheek.
"I can dress myself, you know. I'm perfectly capable of putting on my own clothes. And I'm not mad at you for what happened earlier - I understand that you were upset and protective."
I placed my hands at my sides and let out a deep, frustrated sigh, still feeling guilty about my earlier behavior.
"Isabella, I'm truly sorry for how I acted," I said, looking directly into her eyes so she could see how sincere I was.
"I never want to hurt you or make you feel uncomfortable, especially when you're already dealing with so much stress and uncertainty about your family situation."
She smiled at me with that radiant, beautiful smile that never failed to make my heart skip a beat, then leaned in and stole a quick, playful kiss from my lips.
"Nathan, your apology is completely accepted," she said with a teasing tone, her wide grin showing off those perfect, pearly white teeth that could make any man feel blinded by her beauty.
"Now stop feeling guilty and let me enjoy being pampered by my incredibly handsome Alpha."
But to me, she was absolutely perfect in every way - I loved everything about the way she smiled so genuinely, the way she spoke with such warmth and sincerity, the way she pouted her lips childishly when she was thinking about something.
I kissed her back passionately and murmured between our kisses, "I know that you're not really mad at me, sweetheart, but I still want to pamper you a little bit because you deserve to be treated like the queen you are."
"Okay, hands down then," she said with a light, musical chuckle that made my heart feel full of joy.
"I definitely can't reject an offer like that from my mate. Who am I to turn down being spoiled by the most amazing man in the world?"
Her response made me laugh genuinely for the first time since finding that threatening gift, and I felt some of the tension leave my shoulders.
After I finished putting on my own clothes and making sure we both looked presentable, I turned to her with a suggestion.
"Isabella, we really need to eat something substantial now," I said, reaching for her hand. "Why don't we go somewhere outside of town for a nice meal?
I know a great place that serves incredible food, and I think we both could use a change of scenery after everything that's happened today."
She blinked in surprise, her eyebrows raising slightly as she processed my suggestion.
"Nathan, do you mean we should go outside of our Pack territory?" she asked, sounding a bit uncertain about the idea.
"Is that safe for us to do right now, especially with everything that's going on with my father and the potential for more conflict?"
I nodded confidently and held up both of my hands for her to take, wanting to reassure her that everything would be fine.
"Yes, let's go right now," I said with conviction. "I know that I've been cooking terrible food for us lately, and you haven't been able to eat properly because of it.
Besides, you really should be eating well-balanced, nutritious meals for the baby we're hoping to create together."
She suddenly gasped loudly and placed her hand protectively over her flat belly, her eyes widening with shock and excitement.
"Baby?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with wonder. "What baby are you talking about? Nathan, do you actually think I might be pregnant already? Is that even possible so soon?"
