"Remind me again, why didn't we use the portal?" I asked Chase, who was driving the car.

"I told you already, Sammy. Lee and Jeannie will be running a little late," he answered and then gave me a warm smile.

"They just had to go and visit them; how annoying," I muttered.

"Family is never annoying," he said in a low tone, then focused on the road.
