Ragnar was very displeased by the alpha's attempt to rope him into their quarrel. Adding the Lycan King's name had pushed him to the forefront, ensuring that he would be forced to take action against Amaya if she continued to step out of line. What he hated the most was someone trying to use him.
However, rather than blow up and deliver his brand of swift justice, he kept quiet, waiting for Amaya to make a move.
Amaya smiled and turned to the alpha who spoke. “The things you accuse me of are too grave. Aren’t you slandering me? With which ear did you hear me declare war against werewolves? I’m a werewolf myself.”
“Nor did I say that no one here was my match. I only demand that the respect I deserve as the alpha king of the Silver Fang territories be accorded to me. Why are you trying to deceive the wolf emperor with your sweetly crafted lie?” she asked, smiling sweetly.
Her words made many alphas there sneer at her; some looked at her like she was stupid and insane, while a few others had respect and admiration in their eyes. Most thought she was quite arrogant and delusional to think that she was entitled to that position just because she was Howard’s heir.
“Alpha king of the Silver Fang territories? Who gave you that title? You’re not qualified.”
Amaya didn’t bother to turn around to check the speaker.
“It’s not in your place to tell me if I’m qualified or not. Whether you like it or not, I’m the only alpha of the royal Frost family, the only alpha king of Silver Fang. It can’t be changed, nor do I need your approval.”
“Insolence! A woman has never been an alpha king. How dare you refer to yourself as a king when you’re a woman?” another elderly alpha king, stuck in his ways, shouted, his eyes red like flames.
“Then watch me. If there has never been a female alpha king, I will set that precedent,” Amaya completed and turned back to Grayson.
“And why haven’t you scrammed yet? Do you really want me to force you out?”
“A spot was reserved for you down there. A little girl like you has no business sitting among the elders. It’s already a mercy that you were accorded a seat at all.”
Grayson’s reply infuriated Amaya, and her eyes totally reverted to purple and flames swirling around. Before anyone knew what was happening, the temperature of the room dropped to a terrifying minus five degrees Celsius.
“How dare you?” Amaya growled, her voice terrifying and filled with dark energy, like a demon from the pit of hell.
Eighty percent of the alphas in attendance felt their hairs stand, with a bone-chilling cold creeping down their spines, despite the fact that the anger was not directed at them.
The Lycan king frowned. ‘Her pure ice has been tainted by dark energy, making it more deadly. What has she been doing in the past two years? I need to investigate her.’
“Is she crazy? What is she doing? Is she trying to start a battle right in the council? It seems like the rumors are true. She has indeed gone crazy with bloodlust and resentment,” an alpha king whispered to the person beside him.
“I said up!” Amaya growled, her voice an immense pressure that pushed Alpha Grayson out of the seat.
The more he resisted, the more his bones cracked from the pressure. Against their expectations, he dropped to his knees with a thump, kneeling before Amaya.
She bent before him and patted his shoulders.
“Remember this—don’t you dare try to challenge or insult me ever again. Be a good boy, and stay in your lane.”
The moment she finished speaking, her aura receded back into her body, and she sat down on her spot.
Most alphas pressured by her aura sighed in relief, glad to be rid of her oppressive energy.
A smile bloomed on the Lycan King’s face, unnoticed by anyone.
‘Interesting. I want this woman beside me. To keep or break—it doesn’t matter what I do with her afterwards.’
“It seems that the information about you indiscriminately killing alphas using your superior wolf was indeed true,” an alpha king ranking fourth on the list of the most powerful alpha kings said, calmly tapping against the table before him.
He had never said a word since she arrived, choosing instead to silently observe.
Amaya immediately recognized him as an old fox—Alpha King Thane—a conniving, ruthless alpha with the habit of using others as a knife to kill his enemies. His pack was big and powerful, almost as rich as the original Silver Fang.
But with the dire straits Ethan left Silver Fang in within two short years, they were no match for him in terms of finances.
Amaya’s only ace was her legion of nightshade armies, way stronger than the regular wolf warriors. She needed to make money as soon as possible. Otherwise, the other alphas would totally suppress her since they saw her as a threat.
The old man was a seasoned alpha with an extremely sly mind, easily squashing his competitors using numerous vile means. He was an old, calculative demon. So Amaya was especially attentive while dealing with him.
She smiled broadly, feigning ignorance.
“Indiscriminate killing of alphas? I never did that.”
“Then do you care to explain the reason four official alphas died in your pack, alongside some powerful elders and betas?” he asked again.
“Oh? I never did that. I only punished traitors who betrayed the Silver Fang territories and killed the late alpha king. It was the just and right thing to do. Otherwise, more traitors will arise, thinking it’s a smart choice to kill their alphas and take over their territories.”
She smiled brightly and continued.
“If such a precedent is set, then you will need to watch out for your subordinates. Greed is always the biggest problem in people. The desire to own things that were not theirs always leads to disasters.”
If not for the mask on her face and the hideous scar beneath, she would have been a fatal attraction.
“Alpha Ethan and his Luna were registered members of the council, not some small fry alpha. When did it become the turn of anyone to randomly prosecute him?” an alpha asked, his voice dripping with displeasure. He was the alpha king of South Carolina.
