The closer I got to my apartment door, the harder my heart pounded in my chest. I don’t know why common sense abandoned me, and I ended up in Marion’s beach house last night. Now, after telling him I was his woman, the fear was clawing at me again.

I wasn’t scared of him hurting me. What terrified me was what could come of this. I know I said I wanted to live a little, but maybe I’d just taken it too far.
