Alpha Gideon POV
“This is the third patrol group that has turned up at the borders as corpses and no one is telling me anything valid! Do you all want to lose your heads?” I banged my hands on the table furiously as I stared at the gamma in the eye while the elders sat in the corner quietly.
“Can someone give me a valid answer?” I yelled at the top of my voice and the leader of the gammas stepped forward immediately.
“We believe that the attacks are coming from the neighboring pack led by Alpha Blake.” He informed me and my brows furrowed as I stared at him wondering why any pack would want to start killing my people.
“Alpha Blake’s pack? Do we have any outstanding issues with his pack?” I questioned and everyone shook their heads in negativity.
“None that we know of, your highness.” One of the Alpha's answered and I gritted my teeth with my hands on my jaw in deep thoughts.
“So we don't have any problem with them and then suddenly they start killing patrol guards at the boundary? Did the patrol venture into their pack?” I asked and there was another shake of negativity that had me grabbing the glass of water in front of me and sipping it down immediately.
“What the hell? How are we sure we didn't venture into their pack? There is no proof.” The one thing I didn't want to be happening at this instant was anything that would lead to a war and this was absolutely calling for it.
It's not like my pack is scared of being engaged in a war but if it comes to that, innocent lives would be taken and that's the last thing I want.
“There is one who escaped from them.” One of the elders stated and I looked up immediately. That was fantastic news.
“Then where is he?” I squinted my eyes and there was no young man in sight.
“We shall bring him in now, Alpha.” The guards stated and I nearly threw the cup over to them before clicking my tongue.
“Hurry up.” I gritted out, trying to calm myself.
A fragile young man came in shaking like a leaf and I stared at them in confusion wondering what the hell was happening.
“He's part of a patrol team?” I asked gesturing to the boy and they nodded in the affirmative.
“Him? This lad? Since when did we start accepting lads into the patrol team?” I questioned.
He was so young, definitely not one that should have been at a battlefront at such an age.
“Yes, my Lord. We're sorry” They bowed in reverence and I took a deep breath trying to stay calm.
The leader of the gammas was going to have a word with me later about this and I swear he's going to have an earful.
“You were at the scene?” I questioned and he nodded in fright.
“They were so fast, everything happened so fast.” He burst into tears and my brows creased as I stared at them.
“Take him away.” I gestured to one of the guards and he nodded, leading the boy out of the room.
“Artemis, arrange a meeting with me and Alpha Blake immediately,” I stated, using my hands to massage my forehead.
With all the pack duties and troubles that were sprouting up, I was sure I was going to age too fast.
“Yes, Alpha.” I dismissed the rest of the elders and guards and remained seated on my throne when Artemis came back.
“I sent a message using the raven and we have received a reply.” He brought out a raven and took out the scroll that was trapped between his legs.
“It's as I arranged, you would be meeting with him at the boundary.” I heaved a deep sigh as I hadn't expected Blake to agree to my terms.
That guy was one Alpha I detested, always so cunning, always so devious, and lastly, always had trouble up his sleeves.
“Well then, let's go now. If he is to be our guest, we have to arrive before him.” I admonished and stood up while the rest of the guards fell into step with me.
“Are there any guards at the gate to guarantee the pack's safety?” I questioned and the leader of the gamma's nodded in the affirmative.
In less than a few minutes, we were at the boundary seated and waiting for Blake to arrive. My wolf was on high alert as I was getting mixed signals from this meeting, I only hoped it didn't get bloody somewhere in the middle of it.
“It's been 30 minutes, isn't he supposed to be here?” I queried getting exhausted when the loud chirping of a Raven could be heard and Artemis quickly caught it.
“It has a message.” He said and handed me the scroll.
As I opened it up and read the contents, I gritted my teeth. This was the Blake that I knew, he had changed plans and wanted us to come for his Luna Choosing Ceremony.
“What do we have to do with his Luna Choosing Ceremony anyway?” Artemis mumbled as I led the way.
It was going to be about 3 hour's walk and we couldn't change to our wolf form without ruining the dress that we were putting on.
“Less talking, more moving.” I admonished and silence descended on them.
We got to his pack 3 hours later and the hall was packed to the brim. There was a patrol of guards waiting to receive us as they guided us to our seats. The Luna Choosing hadn't even started so I was pretty sure Alpha Blake invited me here to show that he had the power to invite whichever pack’s Alpha he wanted.
My gaze shifted when I noticed some ladies in the halls arguing over something or more like one was getting bullied.
This wasn't exactly my kind of scenery, it bored me out.
I exchanged eye contact for a second with the lady that was getting bullied and my wolf stood up inside of me immediately.
“Mate.” He growled and I tilted my head.
Worst place of all to find a mate, ain't it? And she was the one getting bullied? She was beautiful though.
I stood up about to go over to her when the bells suddenly started ringing and the procession began.
It didn't take more than 30 minutes and Blake had already marked his Luna while the party began.
I slid out of the hall determined to find that lady not until I saw her laying on the floor and crying to herself.
I was going to meet her when those set of girls appeared from nowhere and ambushed her again but this time, she seemed like she had already had enough of their crap.
I watched from the dark as she stood up for herself and in that moment, I knew that I had met my Luna.
She was my mate and definitely mine. I locked eyes with her for a few seconds as she heaved profusely while looking like a snack I would definitely feed on.
“Impressive,” I muttered and smiled to myself.
