The Interrogation

The scent of ash and deceit clung to the wind. Reule stood in the command yard, his arms folded across his chest as he scanned the horizon. Dawn hadn't broken yet, but Reule could sense the fight that would end with blood.

"He’s gone," Adriana said as she stepped beside him, her voice low and clipped. 

"No one saw him leave. Glen’s scent ends near the south ridge. Same place we tracked rogue movement last week."
