"Walker!" Smith calls for me as the Rebs advance.

The gunfire is relentless, and everything in front of me is a blur. "Reloading!" I tell him, hoping he hears me. It's a struggle to get the cartridge in with shaky fingers as bullets fly all around me. Finally, I get it loaded and pound the ramrod as fast as I can so I can get another shot off at the advancing Rebs.
