I scooped Liam up into my arms and brushed past the man as I made my way back into Susie's shop. Glancing back, I watched as the man glared at the back of our heads before walking away with a disgruntled expression. 

Trying to take Liam's mind off of that man, I pointed to the tiny cracked glass charm of a bluebell flower and softened my voice, "Did you pick that out for mom?" 

He nodded hesitantly and mumbled quietly, "But I accidentally broke it when..."
