The Shadow Gate stood before me like a doorway to nightmares.

I had never seen anything so terrifying and beautiful at the same time. The ancient archway rose from the forest floor, carved from black stone that seemed to drink in the moonlight. Strange symbols covered every inch of its surface, glowing with purple fire that made my eyes water when I looked directly at them.

And beyond the archway... nothing. Just swirling darkness that ...
