I watched her closely as she gently opened her eyes, scanning the room before they landed on me.

“Hey, baby,” I said softly, touching her cheeks.

“Hi.”

She tried to sit up straight, but I prevented her from doing so. I helped her adjust the pillow properly, gently enough so it wouldn't shake the drip.

“How are you feeling? We brought you to the hospital when you collapsed in the elevator.”

“Oh… yeah. I-I'm sorry I didn't—”

“It's okay, ...
