Mia and Carl leave after dinner. Their laughter fades down the hallway.

Alexander stands. Holds out his hand.

"Come with me."

"Where?"

"My study. There's something I want to show you."

I take his hand. Let him pull me up.

We walk through the house. His fingers intertwined with mine.
