Anna's POV:

Carl's waiting outside.

"The hospital?" I ask.

"I'll take you."

We arrive twenty minutes before the surgery. I turn to Carl as he parks.

"Thank you for bringing me. But I'll get home on my own."

"Are you sure? I can wait—"

"I'm sure." I need to do this alone. "My family will be here. I don't want them asking too many questions."
