The door opens.

Alexander steps inside. Behind him—Mary.

My sister's face crumples. She rushes forward.

"Anna!" Her arms wrap around me. "Oh my god, are you okay?"

Tears stream down her cheeks. Real tears.

'She's crying. Mary's actually crying for me.'

Something warm uncurls in my chest. She pulls back, hands on my shoulders, eyes searching my face.
