CHAPTER 2

The moment Haven felt Lucious' breath on her skin, her eyes flew open, and she jerked away as quickly as she could.

Lucious stared at her with a smirk on his face. "I knew you weren't sleeping, my love." His form of endearment made her insides warm. Haven cleared her throat. She wouldn't let herself be affected by his words.

"Why are you here?" Her voice came out sharper than she intended

"Shouldn't you be with your wife and child?"

"She's not my wife," Lucious stated, his expression softened, "And why are you asking such a question? Can't I come here—"

"You shouldn't be here," Haven cut him off.

"Haven," Lucious sighed, and his hands moved to hold hers

"Don't touch me!" Haven slapped away his hands a bit too harshly. "Why did you even come here? Are you just remembering someone like me still existing?"

"Haven, it's not like that— I just got caught up with work."

"Yeah, right." Haven rolled her eyes. "I've made that excuse up myself every time, but now I'm exhausted." Her voice was filled with frustration. "Why did you stop me if you just wanted to be with your wife and child?"

"Natasha is not my wife!" Lucious' voice slightly raised, "I told you, I have nothing to do with Natasha, and I never will. I have nothing to do with her!"

"You have a child with her," Haven said quietly and sniffed. Her words made Lucious sigh, and he scratched his head as he looked for the right words to use.

"That's.. that's an entirely different matter—"

"You know what? I really don't care." Haven shook her head, "Just— just leave from here. I really don't want to talk to you right now, Alpha."

A look of hurt flashed across Lucious' face, hearing her address him that way.

"I'm sorry," He looked down, "I know you're angry. I'm really sorry.. I— I know I don't have an excuse for not coming to you for so long, I'm really sorry." He apologized honestly.

Lucious really wanted to be with Haven. At the same time, he needed to be with his child, too. Dayna had told him his child was sick; not everyone knew of this apart from him and Natasha, and Natasha always used the child as an excuse to make him stay back with her.

Lucious knew it was wrong; he knew Natasha was using his child as an excuse, but he couldn't help it, not with his child's health on the line.

For Lucious, his child and mate came first— everything else followed after that. But now, he was torn between spending time with his child or giving his mate the attention he deserved; somehow, he allowed his fatherly instinct to get the best of him. But that didn't mean he didn't care about Haven.

He did a lot, even if he wasn't with her. He made sure to watch her from a distance as she worked, admiring how beautiful and dedicated she looked while carrying out her duties.

Lucious had never been happier. Seeing Haven adjust and fit in so well with his pack was all that Lucious ever wanted. She took care of the sick, made sure things were carried out perfectly and on time, with no room for excuses.

During this time, he got to see different sides of Haven. She could be fierce, loving, caring, and even strict whenever the need arose. Lucious couldn't ask for a better partner, and Luna.

Lucious knew Haven didn't know he always watched her. He made to look away whenever he sensed she was about to look his way, and pretended he was carried away with work. It was hard to come see her, especially with all the tons of work that piled on his desk every day.

From preparations for the Grand Feast to welcome his son, to all the issues about other packs and the witches, and Natasha always glued to him, crying about her child's health every second— everything was exhausting.

Staying away from Haven was simply torture, and today, he just had to come see her himself; he couldn't bare to stay away anymore, but seeing the look Haven gave him, Lucious could only imagine how hurt she must be. He reached again, only for his hands to be slapped away — a second time.

Lucious sighed, "I'm sorry." He apologized, "I know I can't justify my actions, but please, don't push me away like this."

Having got off the bed, "Fine, if you won't leave, I will leave then," She turned and walked towards the door. She had only taken a few steps when strong arms wrapped around her, stopping her from leaving. Their bodies coming in contact sent tiny sparks running through their entire body.

"Don't go," Lucious nuzzled her neck, sending more sparks ringing across her body. Haven sucked in a breath, and she felt her heart beat accelerate; it started to pound against its ribcage.

"Let go.." She said, her voice cracked a bit. She swallowed and cursed silently. She was so mad at him. How could she let her touch affect her like this?

"No," Lucious replied stubbornly, "Not until you say you forgive me, my love." His eyes closed, and he breathed in her scent; his wolf purred in delight.

Haven felt her cheeks start to heat up. Being in close proximity to Lucious like this made butterflies churn around in her stomach. And to make matters worse, it was almost her heat period, so her hormones were running wild.

"Lucious," She swallowed. "I said let go," She tried to pry his hands off, but it was hopeless.

"You know I won't." His breath hit her skin hard, and her heart started to beat even faster. Haven swallowed thickly, clenching her fists. She knew how stubborn Lucious could be if he wanted.

"Fine," She finally conceded and rolled her eyes. "I forgive you," She felt Lucious's smirk against her skin before he dropped a small kiss there, making Haven's eyes go wide.

"Hey!" She tried to jerk away from his grip. "No fair! I said I've forgiven you."

"Your forgiveness is the last thing I want." Lucious' voice came out a bit raspy, and within the blink of an eye, Haven felt herself being spun around and forced to look into his blue orbs.

"T– Then?" She stuttered, "What do you want?"

"You," His reply made her suck in a breath. "I want you."
