"Yes, my love." Haven heard him repeat "I want you," His words made her heart flutter, but it seemed he wasn't done yet. His hands cupped her face, his eyes bored into Haven's.
"I know I've always messed up, and even if it's not intentional, I somehow keep messing up," He admitted. " But no matter what, I want you to know that you are my main priority."
"You are the woman I want, the one I want to spend my life with, the one person I desire more than anything in this world."
"It doesn't matter how far I go or how long I'm away, I'll always find my way back to you, always," He stressed the last words and smiled softly.
Haven's heart warmed at his words; she couldn't help the smile that slowly made its way up her lips as Lucious pulled her in and dropped a kiss on her forehead.
"I'm so sorry for staying away from you all this time," He sighed when he pulled away. "Don't be angry with me, my love, okay?"
Haven wanted to nod but decided against it. She turned away and crossed her hands over her chest. "No, I'm so crossed with you. I won't forgive you, so
easily."
"Seriously?" Lucious smirked, " Fine then. I'll make it up to you."
Haven rolled her eyes. "Don't bother. Whenever you say that, you always end up making things even worse."
"At least I try—"
"I don't need you to try."
"Fine then," He accepted and crossed his hands too. "What do you want me to do? I do anything"
"Anything?" Haven's brows perked up, and Lucious nodded.
"Yes, anything. Just tell me what you want, I'll do anything."
Haven smirked, "Okay then. You said anything, so you'll have to do as I say. "Like I have a choice," Lucious murmured.
"Did you say something?" Haven raised a brow at him, and he shook his head. "Good. Now, you said you'll give me anything I want?" She asked again. "Absolutely," Lucious replied and pulled her into his arms. Haven giggled ", Anything for my love"
"Okay, well, it's been a long time since you stayed with me. I want you to sleep here tonight," Haven looked up at him.
Lucious smiled, "Is that it?" She nodded, "Fine then. I won't go anywhere," He dropped another kiss on her forehead, and Haven giggled as he led her back to the bed. The two cuddled up, staring each other in the eyes as they conversed all night long. They talked about Lucious' trip, the witches' conspiracy, their responsibilities, the pack, and a whole other lot of things. All the talk must have made Haven sleepy because by the time Lucious looked down, her eyes were closed peacefully.
A gentle smile graced Lucious's lips as he leaned down to kiss his mate's forehead again. He stared at her sleeping face adoringly. Haven looked even more beautiful when she slept. His hands wrapped around her even tighter as he closed his eyes, allowing her lovely scent to lull him into his own world of slumber.
Lucious woke up to the constant vibration of his phone. He groaned at the disturbance before he looked down, hoping he hadn't woken Haven up yet. Thankfully, she was still asleep, he reached out to the phone he kept on the bedside table earlier and peered at the screen, the expression on his face darkened.
Why was she calling him at this time of night?
Lucious's eyes looked down at his sleeping mate. He couldn't answer the phone here; he slipped away, careful not to wake her up, before walking away from the bed.
"Where are you, baby?" Natasha's voice rang from the other end the moment he received the call. Lucious' fists clenched.
"I've told you to stop calling me that!" He half-yelled, half-whispered. He glanced back towards the bed before turning away again. "What is it? What do you want?" He asked impatiently.
"Where on earth are you?" She sounded worried. Lucious frowned.
"What is it? What happened?"
"Our child," Lucious heard her say, the expression on his face changed almost.
"What?" Lucious held his breath. "Wh— what happened to our child?"
"He's running a temperature," She broke into a cry. "It's terrible, I'm so worried, I don't know what to do. We need you back here, baby. Please come immediately."
"Calm down, just calm down," He tried to calm the crying Natasha down. "I-I'll be on my way," He added before the line went dead. Lucious ran his hands through his hair. He promised Haven he would stay here tonight, and now this? What will he do now?
Maybe he can sneak out to go see his child and then come back quickly before Haven notices?
Yes, that was a good idea. He would return before Haven even knew he was gone. He spun around to leave when he caught something out of the corner of his eyes. He stopped abruptly, his shocked eyes met Haven's.
"You— you're awake?" He stuttered. He didn't hear her come over. Lucious cleared his throat. "Well, I was just…" He scratched his head. " I just—"
"You're leaving, aren't you?" Hurt was evident in her voice.
"No—"
"It's okay," She interrupted, "You can leave, I understand." Her sad eyes stared back at him. Lucious sighed; he hated to see her unhappy.
"I'm sorry," He apologized and looked at her one last time before storming away. Haven blinked hard to stop her tears from falling as she looked at him exit the room. She ran back to her bed and crashed on it, tears leaking from her eyes as she sobbed quietly.
Tonight was supposed to be for them only, but once again, his child had to come in between them. Haven had woken up the moment she felt Lucious' warmth, moved away from the bed, and her eyes opened to see him walking to a side of the room. With sleepy eyes, she followed him, but he was so engrossed in his call that he didn't even notice.
Haven didn't need anyone to tell her who the caller was, hearing how worried Lucious sounded. It had to be about his child. What broke her even more was seeing him about to leave. Did he really think he could sneak out without her knowing?
Haven sighed. Her biggest fears were slowly coming true. She just hoped and prayed a time wouldn't come when Lucious would be asked to choose between them, but she couldn't stop herself from wondering. If a situation like that ever arose, who would he choose:
Her or his child?
