Chapter 18: The Interrogation

The bland, peeling paint and basic, rigid furniture in the small, windowless interrogation room, were designed as a reverse psychological ploy to be as uncomfortable as possible to help loosen the lips of suspects and to get witnesses talking. If they met them in a nicer setting and served coffee and donuts, they would only be distracted and focused on life’s pleasures.

So, they gave them the barest amount of comfort.
