Chapter 4

Mia's POV:

The sight before me was like a knife piercing through my heart, a betrayal that cut deep into my soul. Anger surged through my veins, mixing with a potent cocktail of hurt and disbelief.

I felt an overwhelming sense of betrayal.

How could he do this to me? To us? All those promises we made, the vows we exchanged, now seemed like empty words.

It felt like the foundation of our marriage had crumbled beneath my feet, leaving me standing on shaky ground.

And then, I couldn't contain the anger that consumed me.

I charged towards the other woman, fueled by a mixture of rage and desperation. I wanted to fight back, to defend what was rightfully mine.

But deep down, I knew it was a futile attempt to salvage something that was already broken.

As I lashed out, my movements felt feeble and pitiful.

The pain of betrayal had weakened me, leaving me vulnerable and exposed. It was as if the universe was mocking my attempts to protect the love I thought we had.

I wanted to scream, to unleash the torrent of emotions that threatened to drown me.

But because of my weakened state, I couldn't do much.

I wasn't powerful enough. She overpowered me, relentless blows flowing through my body until pain engulfed me, and blood stained my legs.

Darkness claimed my consciousness, and I surrendered to it.

........

When I opened my eyes again, the world was a blur.

Exhaustion clung to me, and I found myself lying on a bed, utterly drained.

Trying to sit up felt like an arduous task, and then I heard Cassey's voice.

'Mia thank goodness you're awake!' She said happily and I sat up immediately.

"Cassey, where's Hudson?" I asked as I didn't see him anywhere in the room.

Cassey breathed out with a sigh.

'he left' she said.

"He left? What do you mean?" I asked.

'Hudson left with that woman who hit you' she confirmed.

Memories flooded back – the brutal assault, the pain that made me lose consciousness. Betrayal added a bitter layer to the wounds inflicted by that other woman.

Realization dawned on me that, the person I loved had left with the one who had hurt me the most.

Then I remembered, my pregnancy.

"Cassey, how's my baby?" I hurriedly asked.

Cassey hesitated, but then said, 'Mia I'm sorry, but you had a miscarriage after that fight'

"WHAT?!"

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

The words echoed in my ears, piercing through my heart like a thousand knives.

Cassey's voice was a blur as she told me about the miscarriage. The room seemed to spin, and I could feel anger boiling up inside me.

How could this happen?

How could life be so cruel?

And to top it all off, it was at the hands of that woman.

I had endured shame and disgrace for three years because of childlessness.

When I finally get pregnant, Hudson brings in a woman from nowhere to beat me up.

Now that I had a miscarriage, this meant I would go back to the beginning.

The insults, punishments, malnourishment, and so on.

The betrayal cut deep, and I felt a mixture of rage and sorrow welling up within me.

Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably as I tried to comprehend the magnitude of what had happened.

My hands trembled with a mix of anger and grief.

I wanted to scream, to lash out at the unfairness of it all.

But instead, I found myself sinking into a numbness.

I felt a profound sense of loss. Not just for the child I would never hold in my arms, but also for the trust and love that had been shattered. It was as if the very foundation of my world had crumbled beneath me, leaving me adrift in a sea of pain.

I couldn't believe what I had just heard. The truth hit me like a ton of bricks, shattering the last remnants of my trust in Hudson. My mind was spinning, trying to process the depth of his betrayal. Anger surged through me, mingling with the sadness that had settled deep in my heart.

I shook my head, feeling a mix of disbelief and determination.

How could I stay in a marriage where I was constantly hurt and deceived?

It was clear to me now that I deserved better. I deserved a love that was honest, loyal, and true. And it was time for me to find that love elsewhere.

With a newfound resolve, I made up my mind. I was done. I was leaving. No more would I subject myself to the pain of Hudson's infidelity and his mother's curses.

No more would I sacrifice my happiness for the sake of a broken marriage.

'Mia this is the right decision. Though it's going to hurt us, we can't die in one place' Cassey said and I hummed in reply.

I climbed out of bed, my steps heavy with the weight of my decision.

I was going to end it all, to find Hudson and break away from this hell hole named marriage.

As I reached downstairs, I was met with the sight of My mother-in-law, showering praises on that same woman who caused my miscarriage.

She was hugging and talking nicely to that woman.

I felt bitterness in my stomach as I witnessed all this.

Had she ever once, spoken to me like that?

Had she ever once showered me with praises?

'just ignore her and find Hudson' Cassey said.

I hummed again in reply and looked around the living room.

Then, I found Hudson, engrossed in his phone, oblivious to the turmoil that was brewing inside me.

His mother also saw me and released a mocking laugh.

She then pointed her fingers towards me and said, "Oh look, it's the man disguised as a woman!"

I gritted my teeth in anger, but Cassey asked me to stay calm.

But again, Hudson's mother wasn't done yet.

"Mia look here, look at this beauty sitting here" She gestured to the woman who ruined my life again. "She got pregnant with just the first sperm from my son! Do you still think you're woman enough?!"

Her words were disgusting, so disgusting that I wondered what kind of a mother she was.

I still ignored her and marched to where Hudson was seated.

"Hudson" I called out, my voice heavy with grief. He looked up at me, those familiar black eyes that always made me blush.

But I wasn't blushing this time. I was being serious.

"Let's get a divorce"
