I didn't think impressing a middle schooler would be as simple as Genevieve showing up.

Genevieve sauntered to a stop in front of us. She hugged me. “I got your text. What's the emergency?”

Talia was bubbling quietly with excitement. I grabbed both her shoulders and pulled her to stand between us. “This. I want to go shopping with her. But, I also think you'll be a better judge of what she gets. I'm not wrong.”

“She's pretty,” Genevieve said, studying her face.
