Maya's pov

It was disgusting how dense the darkness was in the Sealing Chamber.

I took Kael's hand in mine as I sat on the chilly floor.

His skin was drenched in sweat from the fever, and his hand had been burning for hours.

I hadn't slept.

I was unable to.

I had to rely on my touch and my ears without my wolf to protect me. My heart leaped into my throat each time Kael groaned in his sleep or his breathing became labored.
