By the time I got home from the pep rally, my head was pounding with a one-sided headache, and my chest felt tight in that annoying way it always did when I was trying not to think too hard about something that had already placed its mark on me.

Is was even more annoying for me because I hadn’t stayed until the end of the event like I planned, as my whole mood went sour completely the moment Kyra dragged me aside and unloaded her whole mess on me.
