Sleep didn’t come early that night. I tossed and turned restlessly, staring at the white ceiling with my mind spinning in circles like it was stuck in replay mode.

Every time I closed my eyes to try to catch a little sleep, at least, as the following day was going to be a really long one, I kept seeing her, the way she looked powerless and innocent when she realized what was happening.
