Chapter- 4 ( Knight In Shining Armour )

( Claire )

Winston Trotwood entered in the scene like the predator. Both Dustin and Grace’s faces turned pale when they saw him.

“Are they bothering you, my love?” His smooth silk, like voice resonated in the air.

“Yes, they aren’t ready to believe us.” I said looking at their shocked faces.

“Winston Trotwood, you bought this house?” Dustin finally recovered from the shock and asked him.

“Yes, she sold it to me for 220 million and I am very glad to turn it into an orphanage. Maybe, the deception in these walls will be forgotten by their innocence.” Winston said.

It was clear, both of them were intimidated by his presence.

“This is illegal. Claire lost all the rights in my family’s assets the moment our marriage agreement came to an end six months ago.” Dustin tried to strike back.

“Yes, the marriage agreement ended six months ago and I am no longer your wife but you failed to hide your father’s will. I bought your attorney’s loyalty in only ten thousand dollars. I’ll pay him the rest of the ninety thousand once the money will be transferred in my account by the end of this week.”

My triumphant smile morphed his face with horror.

“I’ll kill that bastard and then I’ll make you regret your actions, Claire!” He snarled and charged towards me but Winston blocked his way before he could touch me.

“Do not make a mistake, Dustin Bale. I spared you last time during the annual bidding but you can’t be lucky twice specially with the woman whom I am going to marry.” Winston spoke.

Well, it came like a shock to me as well.

I met him out of the jewellery shop where I sold the ring and he was the one who took me to the attorney’s office but I didn’t expect him to add this in our plan.

Yes, he revealed his intentions to settle scores with Dustin, their old rivalry was still a mystery for me.

“Winston Trotwood, do not try to screw with me. You know very well who I am and what I can do.” Dustin matched his intense gaze.

But Winston wasn’t bothered by him.

“Dustin Bale, I have known about your dirty secret for a long time but I waited for you to reveal your true colours. The last night was an eye opener for me. You and your mistress proved that devil resides in human body.” I said.

My dying body in a dark, lonely night.

They were as far as killing me to annul his father’s will.

“Claire!”

Dustin shouted but before he could say another word, a dozen of men in black uniforms rushed inside.

They were Winston’s bodyguards equipped with weapons.

“Try to come near my fiancé again and they’ll shoot you down right here and I don’t want this beautiful Persian carpet to be ruined.” Winston smirked.

Clearly, they were intimidated by the presence of his bodyguards. Dustin, who was planning to surprise me, he received the biggest blow of his life.

“Be thankful that I haven’t claimed a huge alimony from you and decided not to sue you, Dustin otherwise you would be on streets in my place.” I said walking up to them.

“This isn’t over yet, Claire. My son is the only heir of Bale family’s fortune and I won’t let it slip like this.” Grace hissed.

The crushing defeat stung her more.

“I wish you could save the twenty million you paid to those goons for killing me. It’d be useful for you and your kid.” I said and her pupils dilated.

“How do you know?” She asked in a edgy tone.

“I know a lot more but I’ll save it for another time.” I replied.

Her eyes searched for an answer but Dustin pulled her away.

“Grace, let’s leave. We’ll stay at our condo tonight and tomorrow, we’ll deal with her.” He said pointing his finger at me.

“Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention, the condo is also listed in the will so its mine. You can go to Grace’s house or better stay at a hotel if you have sufficient balance in your account.” I smirked.

His face was contoured with horror. He checked his phone and then he smashed it on the floor with a scream.

“I am going to kill you!” He shouted but this time, Winston’s bodyguards dragged him out of the house.

Grace was totally terrified and the expressions of helplessness satisfied me.

It wasn’t a dream. Fate had given me another chance to live and put my life in order and show the hidden snakes their place before they poison my life.

“Miss Cullen, you have a child with you so I’d show mercy on you. You can leave on your own once you pack the baby’s stuffs.” Winston said to Grace in a cold tone.

My heart ached to look at Davian. I couldn’t stop loving him. For me, he was my child.

“Or we can trade, Miss Cullen.” I blurted out and both Grace and Winston looked at me with curiosity.

“I can give you back the condo and unfreeze Dustin’s accounts if you give Davian back to me.” I demanded because I knew a woman like Grace Cullen would never be a good and ideal mother for Davian.

Her eyes darkened.

“How dare you to propose something as disgusting as trading for a child? You are an evil, Claire.” She snarled at me.

I chuckled dryly at her hollow words.

“Alright, you can leave now, Miss Cullen. I’ll see you very soon.” I smirked.

If they thought I’d stop chasing them, they were definitely mistaken.

“Will you marry me?” He asked with a radiant smile playing on his lips.

I was in a completely frozen state but then I glanced at Dustin. Jealousy flashed on his face. He still thought he owned me.

“Yes, I will.” I said with a smile and stretched out my hand.

He slipped the ring on the same finger where Dustin’s lie adored for two years.

He kissed my knuckle which made a shiver to run down my spine.
